Making a big life change- be it career or otherwise is fraught with fear and second guessing. Here are some thoughts on navigating these steps when the negativity is creeping in.
What if I can’t?
What if I can?
What if it doesn’t work out?
What if it does?
What if I hate it?
What if I love it?
Maybe it’s a terrible next step.
Maybe it’s a good next step.
What if I make a mistake?
You are human, you will. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try.
What if it really doesn’t go well at all?
These are not forever roles- you can change it in the future.
Really, the only things in life that are immovable are taxes and death. Everything else can be rearranged, moved, adjusted. There’s a lot move movement here than you think.

For years I had been paralyzed with fear of trying something new.
Fear of failing.
Fear of making some kind of mistake.
Certainly, there is room to weigh out your options. To plot out your course. To make a pros and cons list and talk with those close to you about this decision.
But at some point, you have to decide.
Is this right for me? Is this a good next step?
Don’t let fear hold you back.
Don’t let the fear of failing hold you back.
Don’t let fear of the unknown hold you back.
Try something new.
Try something different.
Or you may be relegated to a life of mediocrity.
A life of what ifs. A life of wondering.
Take that step.
Be smart. Be wise.
But also, be willing…
